As said by educationalist Sir Ken Robinson – “Creativity is putting your imagination to work, and it’s produced the most extraordinary results in human culture”, creativity is very important to organization who wants to be innovative in their industry, who want to solve new problems and fix current ones. Creativity allows for alternative solution to complex or tough problems. Bringing out the best in your employees for best performance is what leaders want and need to do.
“The role of a creative leader is not to have all the ideas; it’s to create a culture where everyone can have ideas and feel that they’re valued.” – Ken Robinson
Make sure everyone in your team knows that they ARE paid to think by asking them for ideas! Creativity is absolutely important at workplace as by applying creative thinking to your everyday work life, you will be unlocking more options. Every organisation wants to “Stay ahead of the curve”! Generally when you walk in to a creative workplace – you can feel or sense it. People are energetic and engaged always in such environment.
Encourage Creative Environment: We have to create creative environment in organization if we want our team to be more successful. Your workers might be coming up with creative ideas but if they don’t feel comfortable bringing those ideas to the surface, you will never hear about them so make sure you listen and encourage new ideas.
Also sometimes, serious environment or mind-set can hinder creativity so having fun during work allows one to be relaxed and get inspired with wonderful ideas.
“You can’t just give someone a creativity injection. You have to create an environment for curiosity and a way to encourage people and get the best out of them.” – Ken Robinson
Set an example: I cannot expect my team to do anything that I wouldn’t do!So you have to set an example before you ask your team to do! Good leaders must lead by example. By walking your talk, you become a person others want to follow. When leaders say one thing, but do something else, they erode trust–a critical element of productive leadership.
Develop Creative Thinking: “Don’t tell people how to do things, tell them what to do and let them surprise you with their results.” – George S. Patton. Acknowledge their efforts to solve the problem, challenge or difficulty they are working on. As a leader you have to be open minded about creativity.
Always remember that you are blessed with creativity. It can be in any industry, so go out there and don’t be afraid to show it to the world. Don’t waste your talent. Live up to your potential.
