I remembered that couple of years back we (including myself) all were complaining that we were not using the latest technology but I don’t think we really knew what new technology was! To all of us new technology meant moving from ASP to ASP.NET, SQL server 2005 to SQL server 2008 and Framework 3.5 to Framework 4.0.
So for me, new technology and use of new technology is a set of productive techniques which offer significant improvement over the established technology.
While speaking about new technology, we found that so many things are moving around us nowadays including Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Reality. In most of the industries humans are replaced by robots or with other automated tools. Repetitive jobs are now being done by some tools or utilities.
So don’t you have a question in your mind such as: where we are?, what are we doing?, are we doing simple operations? or simple things by writing code for insert, update and delete each time or doing some complex calculation by writing code. If you are doing this then you are out-dated already! This mean you have to worry about your job as someone is or has already prepared automated tools for this!
Technology is moving too fast guys! Once new technology rolls over you, if you’re not part of the steamroller, you’re part of the road! This reminds me of what the current Nokia CEO said, “We didn’t do anything wrong, but somehow, we lost!”
Main thing is we need to keep current with the latest technologies, otherwise we will become redundant & not relevant to the industry.
So many people will have question at the back of their mind while reading this, like they are not sure from where to start? Note that this is not really a big thing or showstopper. As there are so many ready-made things already available around you, where using them can easily archive what you want! If you find that there is nothing then why don’t you want to become first one to create it!
I have already started working in that direction as I don’t want to find myself lost in the world of technology and I want to be person who make things happen, not the one who watch things happen and wonders what happened!
What do you think, where do you want to be?
