Does the Heartbleed vulnerability impact JZero’s servers?
The Heartbleed vulnerability in OpenSSL has been at the forefront of Internet news recently.
While the issue that has been found relates to OpenSSL (www.openssl.org) which is an open source encryption component, many of our clients are asking whether this affects their hosted instance of JLMS.
JZero can confirm that none of our servers are or have been affected by the Heartbleed vulnerability.
All of our servers are provided by Rackspace and all of them are Microsoft Windows servers using IIS (Internet Information Services).
Windows servers using IIS do not include OpenSSL and are therefore not impacted by this vulnerability.
Windows comes with its own encryption component called Secure Channel which is not susceptible to the Heartbleed vulnerability.
Clients who use SSL Certificates
If you are a client who uses an SSL certificate on your JLMS site, we would request that you contact the certificate issuing provider to confirm that the SSL certificate was not created on a server that uses OpenSSL, as this could render the certificate itself as vulnerable.
